Is BoxPlayer free? Do I need a paid subscription?
BoxPlayer's app features are free. There is no paywall for playback, cloud-drive management, reading, media libraries, search workflows, or BYOK AI. Pro only includes optional BoxPlayer-hosted AI fair-use credits for users who do not want to configure their own API key.
How do hosted AI credits work?
Hosted AI credits apply only when you use BoxPlayer-provided AI capacity, such as AI search, reader conversations, translation, text-to-speech, and AI media scraping. BYOK uses your own provider quota and does not consume BoxPlayer-hosted credits.
Can I use my own API key instead of Pro?
Yes. After signing in, configure OpenAI, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, Ollama, or any OpenAI-compatible key in Settings. BYOK keeps the same app workflows available while billing usage to your own AI provider.
How do I upgrade to Pro? Which payment methods are supported?
Download BoxPlayer and log in, then choose a monthly, yearly, or lifetime Pro plan for hosted AI credits. Payment is completed securely through Waffo Pancake hosted checkout.
Does Pro work on all my devices?
Yes. Purchase Pro once, then sign in with the same BoxPlayer account to share the entitlement across Android, the entire Apple family (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac), Windows, and Linux.
Can I get a refund?
Subscriptions may include a 7-day free trial and renew automatically after the trial unless cancelled. Completed subscription charges and lifetime purchases are generally non-refundable, except where required by law or for duplicate charges, unauthorized transactions, technical failures, or service unavailability reported within 7 days.
